This week we had the pleasure of co-hosting Pascal Van Loenhout alongside KEVIN.MURPHY for the MOODBOARD class. An internationally respected Belgian hairstylist and educator with more than three decades of experience, he is currently the Global Design Director at KEVIN.MURPHY, while also running his own salon and academy in Antwerp.

During the session, Pascal shared his philosophy on building a collection — beginning with a strong conceptual foundation drawn from art, fashion, music and culture, and translating those references into shape, texture and language.

A key philosophy behind his work is stripping haircutting back to its bare bones. By focusing on intelligent sectioning, proportion and structure, Pascal demonstrates how the technical framework of a haircut can do much of the work itself. Once the foundation is strong, texture and movement are introduced with intention, creating what he describes as “curated imperfection” — hair that feels effortless, lived-in and authentic rather than overly polished.
